A lot of people will talk to you about fancy cars; “Look at my Bentley!” they’ll proclaim loudly to anyone who will listen, “Look at it shine the sun, doesn’t it make me look rich!” Ok, well, I’ve never met anyone who used those exact words but one or two have been pretty close. But does a fancy car show off your wealth? It can, but they could also be on a lease from work. What about a nice house? With hundreds of rooms and butlers? It can do – but a big house in the countryside is only a symbol of wealth if people see it.
With no one around to be envious what’s the point? The real show of wealth is where people can see; where you’re in direct competition with people. Where better than Monaco? Where the rich rub shoulders while perched on their yachts, sipping champagne and admiring the sunsets. Here your wealth is judged, as is your taste. How big is your yacht? How tasteful? What make?
